Well, I've put my opinion in the first article is here on this blog, in English and Portuguese. Now I will supplement with some more information that I realized after watching "The Bible" and thought are good information.
First the text: Let's verse by verse ..
Rahab and the spies
Joshua 2: 1
1 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim and said, "Go look at the land, especially Jericho." They went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab, and spent the night there.
.
"Okay okay here and the spies of the Lord, come into the house of a prostitute thing they could not do by law but as I said in my book, the greatest good was pursued:.. The conquest of the land."
2 However, the king of Jericho was told, "Some Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land."
3 Thus, the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: "Send away the men who entered his house, because they came to spy on the whole earth."
4 But the woman had hidden the two men replied: "True, the men came to me, but I did not know where they came from.
5 At dusk, time to close the city gate, they left. I do not know where they were. Run after them. You may reach them. "
6 But she had brought them to the terrace and had hidden them under the stalks of flax, which she had set up there.
Here Rahab lied to save the lives of spies and not to denounce their work. Lying here was not wrong, because the greater good of saving a life took precedence of moral law not lie.
7 The pursuers left behind them the path that goes to the place of crossing the Jordan. And when he left, the door was locked.
8 Before the spies lie down, Rahab went up to the terrace
9 and said to them: "I know the Lord has given you this land You caused us a terrible fear, and all the inhabitants of this land are terrified because of you..
10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did with the east of the Jordan Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings you annihilated.
11 When we heard this, the people became discouraged completely, and because of you all lost courage, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
12 Swear to me by the LORD, and I was kind to you, you also will be kind to my family. Give me a sure sign
13 that will save the lives of my father and my mother, my brothers and my sisters, and all that belongs to them. Rid us of death. "
She makes a request to the spies. Understands that if she did good to them or their country, like me, praying and blessing, they should repay him with kindness and not entering the city and killing her and her family.
14 "Our life for yours!" The men assured her. "If you do not tell what we are doing, we will deal kindly and faithfully when the LORD gives us the land."
They undertake.
15 Then the Rahab helped down from the window with a rope because the house where he lived was part of the city wall,
16 and said to them, "Go to that mountain, so the pursuers will not find the hide there for three days until they return, then will go your way.".
17 The men said to him, "We will be free from the oath you made us do
18 is when we enter the land, you do not have tied this scarlet cord in the window through which helped us go down and if you have not brought your house your father and your mother, your brothers and all your family.
19 Any person leaving the house will be responsible for his own death; we will be guiltless. But we will be responsible for the death of anyone in the house with you, in case anyone touch that person.
20 And if you tell what we are doing, we are free from the oath you took to get us. "
21 "Be as you said," Raabe said. So she sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet cord in the window.
22 When they left, went to the mountain and stayed there three days, until the pursuers they returned. These sought them throughout all the way, and found them not.
23 Finally the two men returned; descended the mountain, crossed the river and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all that had befallen them.
24 And they said to Joshua, "Surely the LORD delivered all the land into our hands; all are terrified because of us."
They relied on their intelligence, contacts with the land, Rahab, and with God's help we provided them all. Or do you think that if they enter into another house than Rahab would have had the same luck?
No! It was the hand of God.
Believe in God's hand guindo you and you will be more than a conqueror.
